Network communication changes, the world will close the GSM network
The tech world has entered the era of 4G mobile, and more and more operators are shutting down GSM and CDMA second-generation (2G) networks. According to the IDG news agency, a number of GSM network operators around the world have been gradually closed down, not to provide the service.GSM network function influence people's life.
Earlier, telstra announced that it would shut down its GSM network by the end of 2016, while AT&T, America's largest mobile operator, has announced that it will shut down its GSM network by January 1, 2017. Singapore's three mobile operators, M1, Singtel and StarHub, are the latest to announce a timetable for the closure of GSM. The companies said they would shut down GSM networks on April 1, 2017. Three operators in Singapore say the number of subscribers currently using the GSM network is small. For most mobile phone users, it doesn't matter if the carrier shuts down the 2G network. Today, most mobile phone users use 4G or 3G phones.
When telstra announced the timing of the shutdown, its executives said GSM accounted for less than one percent of all traffic. For operators, shutting down GSM networks can have both technical and financial benefits. The frequency resources freed up after network shutdown can be used for the construction of a new generation network, which means the same radio frequency resources can transmit more data traffic. In addition, after the closure of GSM network, the operating and maintenance costs of operators will also be significantly reduced.
Today, 4G or 3G phones and networks are common, and there are many machines and devices connected to the Internet that use GSM networks, and these devices have a long life. GSM networks have low cost and wide coverage, so many "equipment-to-device" networking applications use GSM networks, including alarm systems, vending machines, and transport vehicle management. According to the experience of AT & T and others, upgrading a mobile network from 2G to 3G or 4G is an absolute economic option. Even M2M applications for communication between devices can be significantly improved if they are upgraded to a new network. For example, in the trucking company's Internet applications, if you switch to 3G or 4G, the relevant chips and applications will be able to support real-time video transmission and other functions.
But not all carriers around the world are in a hurry to shut down their GSM networks. European GSM operators are more cautious. Orange, a French operator, says it will not shut down GSM networks on a large scale. Telenor, a Norwegian operator, recently announced that it would shut down its 3G network by 2020, but that it would shut down its GSM network by 2025, which would outlive its third-generation w-cdma network.
European operators don't try so hard to close the GSM network, not in order to consider a lot of communication between equipment requirements, the current European operators can still gain profits from mobile phone international roaming communications, if in a hurry to close the GSM, will be facing economic and regulatory issues in the European Union. In the Chinese market, there are still a large number of elderly people using non-smart phones based on GSM. And basic voice and text messaging services still use GSM networks.Communication equipment based on GSM network is still very important nowadays, such as wireless alarm system, robot and other tools and equipment. If you need to block these tools, or mobile voice communication and messaging services, you may need a GSM jammer, a portable or desktop. Portable jammers are easy to use anywhere, and desktops are more powerful.
